What is HITEMP 700 LT

HITEMP 700 LT is a synthetic alkyl benzene heat transfer oil with high thermal stability and slow degradation, so it keeps a system's heat transfer performance steady over time. Its excellent oxidation resistance gives it a longer service life than mineral heat transfer oils, and it maintains its heat transfer coefficient and circulation performance well even in prolonged continuous service.

HITEMP 700 LT is a high-viscosity grade within the synthetic heat transfer oil range and forms a strong oil film, making it well suited to heavily loaded heat transfer systems that run continuously in industrial plants.

It is designed for indirect heat transfer systems where the oil is not heated directly, operating at atmospheric or low pressure with a service temperature not exceeding 300°C, and is recommended for liquid phase heat exchange systems only.

HITEMP 700 LT is designed for indirect heat transfer systems where the oil is not heated directly, operating at atmospheric or low pressure, such as:

• Plywood - used in timber drying kilns (Dryer) and hot presses (Hot Press) so the adhesive between timber layers sets properly
• Textiles and dyeing - temperature control in dyeing machines, dryers and fabric coating processes
• PCB boards - used as the heat medium in lamination presses to heat the platens evenly when curing multilayer boards
• Chemical industry - heating reactor vessels and distillation column reboilers, and holding production lines at temperature
• Drilling rigs and offshore operations - used as the heat medium for glycol reboilers in gas dehydration systems, and for warming crude oil and condensate
• Asphalt - used in asphalt cement storage tanks that must be held at 150-175°C, drum mixer pipework, and pre-heaters for recycled RAP material
• Rubber gloves - used in vulcanisation, former dipping and drying

Can it be mixed with your existing heat transfer oil?

If you currently use a synthetic heat transfer oil

If your system already runs on a synthetic alkyl benzene heat transfer oil, changing brand is not a concern. HITEMP 700 LT uses the same base oil, so it can be topped up into your existing synthetic alkyl benzene oil without waiting for a full fluid change - for example Therminol 55.

If you currently use a mineral heat transfer oil

HITEMP 700 LT can be topped up into and used to replace mineral heat transfer oils directly. Mineral oils commonly used in these systems include Shell Heat Transfer S2, Caltex Texatherm 32, Mobil Therm 605 and Total Seriola 32.

As a synthetic oil, HITEMP 700 LT has a longer service life than mineral heat transfer oils and reduces deposit build-up caused by oil degradation.

Before changing or topping up, we recommend always consulting the PTT Lubricants Solutions technical team to assess the condition of the system.
